FIS race Trofeo Oasi Zegna : spectacle and great technique on the slopes of Bielmonte

Two days of sport inaugurated the new year at the Oasi Zegna ski area, where the Trofeo Zegna attracted international-level athletes for two intense days of FIS Slalom races.

The event kicked off on Wednesday, 7th January 2026 on the Moncerchio slope, perfectly prepared to host a competition that, from the very first course inspections, showed piste quality worthy of major events. The starting list, packed with prominent names from both the youth and senior circuits, set the stage for a closely-fought race down to the final gate.
Topping the overall standings was 22-year-old Tomas Barata Mercadal of Club de Esquì Val d’Aran, who once again demonstrated the solidity and consistency he has developed on the continental circuit. Behind him were Federico Romele in second place and Pietro Scesa in third. Scesa also shone in the Giovani category, where he claimed victory ahead of Pietro Orsenigo and Alberto Landini – further proof of the emerging talent that continues to energize the Bielmonte competitions.

The second day, held on Thursday, 8th January 2026, confirmed both the high calibre of the field and the intensity of a Trofeo Zegna that is increasingly becoming a benchmark event in the FIS calendar. Once again, the Slalom offered uncertainty, selective courses, and constant plot twists, with tight time gaps and an exceptionally high technical level.
In the Overall category, victory went to Aingeru Garay Fernandez, who delivered two solid and incisive runs and interpreted the slope conditions to perfection. Denni Xhepa finished second, while Federico Romele – already among the protagonists the previous day – took a well-deserved third place, confirming his consistency at the top.

Among the Giovani, Pietro Scesa repeated his success, standing out across two days of impressive performance. He was followed by Jacopo Claudani and Gabriele Lenuzza, both showing improving form and highlighting the strength of the new generation competing on the circuit.
