Fascinated by the beauty of nature and driven by a profound desire to give back to his native land and community, the businessman Ermenegildo Zegna, in the 1930s, launched an extensive landscape remediation project around the Wool Mill, founded in 1910, and along the road that he himself had planned.

With his forward-looking vision, Ermenegildo was breathing life into an ecosystem long before the term was coined. To put the Zegna Wool Mill at the center of a far vaster community he built a road, the Strada Panoramica 232, after which he created what was to become Oasi Zegna with systematic reforestation generating positive and sustainable interdependence.

Founded in 1993, Oasi Zegna is a project designed to improve not only the landscape but also all forms of life within it. Oasi Zegna covers 100 km² and has 1,420 hectares of woodland and 170 hectares of grazing land, all accessible free of charge and thus ideal for coming into contact with nature and fully respecting local ecosystems. It was granted FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano patronage in 2014.
